When life gets in the way…

sewing takes a back seat, unfortunately. It’s quite depressing to me that I haven’t been able to sew for well over a month. I miss it quite a bit and hope to get some sewing done this weekend.

For those who don’t know, we had a death in my family a little over a month ago that required travel out of state for the funeral. Being there was the right thing to do, but it meant missing work for a week. And, as a teacher, when you miss a week, you are VERY behind when you return. I’ve felt like I was playing catch-up for nearly the last month spending the majority of my weekends grading papers and writing lesson plans.

And then last weekend my husband went to the ACC Tournament and was gone for four days. And that meant I was responsible for EVERYTHING around here, when I’m used to us sharing. Add in a bunch of other random happenings, and I’m exhausted.

I am soooo glad to have a 4-day weekend over Easter. I’m hoping to get all of my school work done today (Easter Eve) so I can relax the rest of my time off and possibly squeeze in some sewing. Of course, I’ll need to stay awake long enough to get my grading done – I’ve fallen asleep on the couch the last two nights grading papers!
