About me…
My name is Kari. I have been married to Patrick for over 15 years. We are the parents to two girls - 12 year-old Alexa and 4 year-old Ainsley. I am a high school algebra teacher and sew in whatever spare time I can find. Usually while Patrick is watching sports LOL! I love snow days and school vacations when I can sew as much as I want!
I learned how to sew when I took “Home Ec” my senior year of high school. The first big project I made was a dress for my mom. Unfortunately, I hadn’t yet learned how to sew with stretchy material and the dress slowly fell apart at the seams while my mom was wearing it. At work. Oops! I’ve gotten much better since then! and avoid anything that isn’t 100% cotton!
Two summers ago (summer of 2006) I decided to take up sewing again to fill the time I suddenly had on my hands when school let out. After grading papers or writing lesson plans every evening for months, I needed something to keep my hands busy at night. That’s when I decided to try quilting. I made two quilt tops
and then was afraid to actually quilt them and finish them off! That’s when I tried making a purse and found that I really enjoyed it. Soon I was drawing my own purse designs on graph paper and I even started making yoga bags after Alexa started taking yoga. I still haven’t finished those quilt tops…
My hobby quickly became an obsession with fabric and sewing. If I don’t start sewing more soon the fabric will start taking over my house!
